Head of Data Science and AI

Our client is a leading Private Equity firm with £300Bn AUM, specialising in venture capital, crypto, credit, life sciences and tech opportunities.

With a global presence and a reputation for excellence, they operate a portfolio of companies across an array of industry verticals including healthcare, consumer, technology and financial services. You will work with your team to solve complex business challenges and deliver enterprise value, through data science and AI solutions.

As the Head of Data Science & AI, you will be at the forefront of developing and executing data-driven strategies that optimize enterprise performance and enhance decision-making processes for a wide variety of end users. You will partner with an industry leading data science consultancy partner, to deliver repeatable, scalable data science solutions, as well as owning and deriving your own ad hoc projects.

You will need to be able to work in a hands on technical capacity, as well as leveraging leadership qualities, facing into founders, c-suite and SLT customers, so you should be highly skilled in articulating technical concepts in an engaging and impactful manner Projects are often turned around in a matter of weeks, with commercial impact being front and centre, so the ability to demonstrate value at pace is key.

You will work in harmony with PortCo’s to empathise, understand and dissect their challenges, as well as pull on your depth of expertise as to ‘the art of what’s (technically, and commercially) possible’.

Typical Data Science and AI projects relate to pricing, customer engagement, supply chain, business performance improvement and operational efficiencies, all with value creation in mind.

Ideally you will have experience in private equity, as well as management consulting (one or the other being essential).

Skills & experience required:

• Educated to at least degree level in a quantitative subject; Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Economics etc.
• Proven experience in data science with the ability to deliver hands-on projects as well as guide and lead project teams.
• Expert in building and leveraging stakeholder relationships, in order to understand requirements and in turn build meaningful and impactful data science and AI solutions.
• Management consultancy experience is required, and private equity experience is strongly preferred, working directly with PortCo’s.
